Sphinx and the Cursed Mummy Wiki

The Sphinx and the Cursed Mummy soundtrack runs throughout various locations of the game. It was arranged and produced by Steve Duckworth, the main sound person at Eurocom.

A few sample tracks were originally published for free in the Eurocom website[1], and were later uploaded to YouTube by fans. The full track list was released on November 10, 2017 as a DRM-free DLC on Steam and GOG together with the PC version of the game, with improved bit rate and several additions, including beta music. The Official OST contains raw looping versions as lossless FLAC and extended versions of the songs in MP3 format; all while using the original, internal track names.

Making of[]

In the behind the scenes footage, Duckworth appears playing what looks like a Kurzweil K2500[2][3] sampler-synthesizer keyboard. Probably the same setup was used to compose the original tracks. In the industry this kind of synth is known as a Rompler.

Even though it wasn't shown in the behind the scenes footage, Duckworth also used a Akai S5000 sampler to create the music heard in the game.

Notable Tracks[]

Main Theme[]

"Main Theme" is heard on the menu as well as after defeating a boss character. Because of this, it is one of the more iconic tracks on the soundtrack.

Outskirts of Uruk/Wall of Spiders[]

"Outskirts of Uruk/Wall of Spiders" is heard only in one area: the Outskirts of the Castle of Uruk. However, because this is the starting area, it is one of more recognized tracks.

Prince Tutankhamen/The Waking Prince[]

"Prince Tutankhamen/The Waking Prince" is heard inside Luxor Palace. It is often associated with Tutankhamen's Room, as the music is first heard there. As it is the first time the player uses Tutankhamen, it is one of the more iconic tracks in the soundtrack.

Heliopolis[]

"Heliopolis" is heard all throughout Heliopolis's exterior locations that don't have tracks of their own.

Trivia[]

  • Originally, the music was going to be played in Sakkara. Since the location was cut, the music was given to Heliopolis, which likely had no music planned at the time.

Abydos 1[]

"Abydos 1" also plays in Luxor Palace, and is never heard in Abydos. It is considered to be one of the most popular tracks with fans.
