THQ Nordic is an European video game publisher and developer, it holds the rights for Sphinx since late 2016. Formerly known as Nordic Games, it bought the THQ trademark and several assets after the THQ bankruptcy and renamed itself as a combination of both for a more recognizable brand.

Embracer Group AB[1] is the Swedish, public stock-traded holding company that sits at the top and works on the business-part of things, while a new THQ Nordic AB[2] in Sweden legally owns the franchise (previously this intermediate company did not exist and Embracer had the THQ Nordic AB moniker), while THQ Nordic GmbH is the subsidiary based in Vienna, Austria. The latter was the one in charge of the PC and Nintendo Switch ports.

Business structure[]

  • Today: Embracer Group AB (publicly-traded) -> THQ Nordic AB (new) -> THQ Nordic GmbH
  • Until 2021: THQ Nordic AB (publicly-traded) -> THQ Nordic GmbH
