- Internally it's called a Pokémon. Its code-name is
QC01; Quadruped Crustacean one. - It was meant to be a possess-able monster in Sakkara, letting Sphinx go through small tunnels and crannies. With a special shell hiding mode.
- Like the Dino Oaf it has its own possession music track, Shy Shell Critter.
- The Shell Critter is one of only three monsters that does not appear out of captivity, with the other being the Featherless Turkey and the Shuttlecock Bird.
